Help registering your car in Spain...

Are you about to register your car in Spain, then you can choose to do it yourself.

DIY is the cheapest solution, and you also learn about the Spanish system.

However, you need to have a little patience:

• You need to have the car MOT’ed in Spain. The local ITV garage.

• You need to pay Spanish VAT, if this has not been paid in a country within the EU. The local tax office / the Hacienda.

• You need to pay Spanish turnover tax. The amount depends of the value of the car. The local tax office / the Hacienda.

• You need to pay Spanish road tax. To be done at the town hall.

• You need to go to the local traffic office. On the Costa del Sol, it is Trafico in Málaga

• You need license plates: Can be bought at authorized garages – with the papers from Trafico in your hand.
